Deviant Sexual Behaviours Classifying deviant behaviour is a very difficult task, as many judge it in terms of morality or acceptance. Where homosexual activity may have been deemed deviant and even hateful in the fifties, it is now widely accepted in the west as an act of love or sexual gratification.
In biological terms, the only deviant behaviour is a lack of sexual activity, in which case, all celibates are deviant. The definition of deviant sexual behaviour that is covered in this essay refers to sexual activity that builds into emotional and psychological harm. This involves things such as becoming aroused at the risk of catch HIV, addition to prostitution, and other potentially damaging activities.
Nature gets a rough ride
The many of the causes of deviant sexual behaviour in this essay do appear to point to nurture as oppose to nature. However, the sex drive is the powering force behind most sexual activity with the possible exclusion of rape, which is often a case of power as oppose to drive.
Further proof of the sex drive being a motivator for deviant behaviour is called upon further during the neutered section of my essay. There I show metrics that point to sexual activity as a whole being powered by the sex drive, and a lack of a sex drive removing some deviant habits.
Addiction is often a cause of deviant behavior
In a person’s struggle to cope with an addiction of any kind, they will often opt to harm themselves in another manner. Quite often, once their physical addiction is cured their self-harming sexual deviancy begins to dissipate. Some people even begin to participate in deviant behavior in order to fund their addiction, which then leads into a negative feedback loop that becomes progressively faster as time goes by.
