The National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) set a target of no more than 3.14 falls in a quarter consisting of 10000 days. In the first quarter, the unit shows an actual fall rate of 9.19 a variable of -6.05. Progress improved in the second quarter, an actual fall rate of zero patients recorded for the third quarter, only to drop again in the fourth quarter to a variance of -2.83 with 5.79 falls.
