Importance of Internal Alignment. Why is internal alignment an important policy in a strategic perspective of compensation? Internal alignment is the reference to the pay relationship between different skills, competencies, and jobs in an organization. This relationship effects employers and employees therefore having an alignment within these relationships is key to focusing the company’s goals and to maintain a productive and happy workforce that is treated fairly and equally. How is internal alignment supported or not supported by a Christian worldview? I think this follows a Christian worldview because it ensures each employee is getting a fair wage for their work. Factors Influencing Internal Pay Structures. Discuss the factors that influence internal pay structures. Based on your own experience, which ones do you think are the most important? Why? In my experience the difficulty in the job or the level of responsibility in the job has a large role in the pay structure for the job. Also, jobs that are difficult to fill have higher pay. I worked at a company that had a very hot job vulcanizing rubber in a factory in Florida. This job was extremely easy as the cycle time was 20-35 minutes and the rest of the time the employee got to sit. However, the area was all of about 130-150 degrees F and ab out 90% humidity. These reasons made filling this position very difficult. We raised the pay for this position to be the 3rdhighest on the production floor. This allowed us to retain people in this position as the pay was attracting long term operators to the role. Job Analysis. Why do many managers say that job analysis is a colossal waste of their time and the time of their employees? Are they right? The argument of most managers is that due to the fluidity of roles making a comprehensive job analysis is a waste of time because it constrains the employees from reacting to changing business needs effectively. I think this answer is a cop-out on the manager’s part. I find that managers that do not support job analysis are either lazy, or ignorant. Not having a job analysis prevents anyone in the organization from having a clear picture of what is needed to accomplish the tasks involved in providing the service or product.
