- In addition, the therapist you select should be different from you in at least by three criteria, such as, age, religion and ethnicity or race, gender, sexual orientation, etc.

Focus on the general objective of this perhaps sensitive encounter. You should capture some of the thoughts and feelings and action patterns that are generated in cross-cultural situations, when things have “gone well” and when perhaps they have “gone less well.”
Analyze how therapist and client may attempt to optimize the interaction to create a “win-win” situation(s). Expect to hear and validate some unpleasant stories and angry/sad/distressed feelings about some of the events.
Prepare a brief list of 5–7 questions to aid you. These can be about the person’s approach and/or experiences in providing or receiving counseling services (clearly recognized as such, or as part of other healthcare situations). Explore any other thoughts about other aspects that you deem appropriate.
Write a 3–4 page interview summary in Microsoft Word document. The interview summary will include what was done by you, your questions and interviewee responses, and reflective observations on your part.
