I am currently a student nurse extern in the Emergency Department at Sharp Memorial, and I am submitting this letter with the full recommendation of my preceptor, _____ _____. I am a senior in the School of Nursing at San Diego State University and will graduate with my BSN in December 2015. My goal has always been to work as a registered nurse in an Emergency/Trauma setting, and I would like to begin my career in the Emergency Department at Sharp Memorial Hospital through the New Graduate Nurse Residency Program. I spent my very first clinical rotation of nursing school at Sharp Memorial, and I have been continually impressed by the innovations Sharp has brought to U.S.health care, such as focusing on illness prevention, offering free public health screenings and using technology to enhance the Sharp experience for both patients and employees.
My passion for nursing has been present for my entire life. I have a big heart and a sharp mind, and I have always had a deep and instinctive desire to help and care for those in need. In each of my clinical rotations I have established myself as being a professional, mature, reliable, insightful, confident and compassionate team player. I have the skills and training necessary to provide safe and effective patient care. My prior work experience as an EMT, and my time spent working in the service industry and as a musician, has enabled me to develop the ability to connect and communicate with people in a very genuine and therapeutic way. I am highly motivated, detail-oriented, receptive to constructive feedback and eager to learn and be challenged. A position in the ED at Sharp Memorial will provide me with an incredible opportunity to grow and become a better nurse, and a better man.
