You will come up with a concept for The Love Talker and you will block a moment (at least 1 page in length) from the play. Then, in class on February 28 you will workshop your scene with several students from class and on March 5 you will have the chance to share your scene with the class.

1. Before class on February 28: after reading the play, write one paragraph explaining the concept for your production of The Love Talker and how you came up with it. Please include an image that visually represents your concept.
2. In class on February 28, you will have the opportunity to share your concept with the class.
Blocking:
1. Before class on February
28: select a brief moment from the play (at least 1 page in length) and come
up with blocking for that moment. Make notes on the blocking in the margins.
Feel free to sketch out paths that actors will take or stage pictures you want
to create as well. You will be turning in this page with blocking notes and/or
sketches in the margins. So be sure to clearly indicate what moment you are
blocking and be specific with your movement choices.
2. On February 28, you will have the
opportunity to work with classmates to workshop the moment you’ve blocked for
the class. You will be able to use the few free-standing chairs in the class to
create some set pieces (i.e. a chair, a sofa, a garden bench), but if any props
are essential to your scene, please bring your own with you. Costumes are not
necessary, since the focus will be on blocking. On March 5 you will have the opportunity to share your scene with the
class.
*The Love Talker has a lot of suggested blocking written in the stage directions. For this assignment you will need to make original blocking choices, so don’t rely on those suggestions exclusively.
